Gossamer Gearは1998年 カリフォルニア州カールスバッドで誕生しました。ブランド名のGossamerとは蜘蛛の糸や透き通るような薄い羽を意味し文字通りGossamer GearはUL(Ultralight)のパイオニアブランドです。創業者Glen Van Peskiが理想とする軽量で機能的なハイキングザックは話題を呼び、多くのハイカーの知るところとなりました。2005年に現在のテキサス州オースティンに移転し製品開発拠点としています。代表的なBackpack製品の一つである＜Gorilla＞は現在で5代目となり、＜Mariposa>とともにGossamer Gearを代表する製品となっています。超軽量で耐久性のある素材は現在は主にrobicのリップストップナイロンを採用しています。Gossamer Gearの製品は主力製品のバックパックからテントやアクセサリーまで幅広く取り揃えています。快適なトレイルハイキングに欠かせないブランドです。
